Coaching Skills for Leaders
Build a coaching culture by developing leaders who listen better, ask better questions, and create ownership.
Purpose & Performance Group’s Coaching Skills for Leaders program equips managers, supervisors, HR leaders, and emerging leaders with practical coaching skills they can use in everyday leadership conversations.
To date over 2,500 leaders, including tribal leaders, have been trained across the country using this program from the C-Suite to first time supervisors.
Participants learn how to move beyond giving direction and solving problems for others, and instead create conversations that build trust, strengthen accountability, and help employees take ownership of their growth, performance, and decisions.
The program focuses on three core outcomes:
- Build stronger manager-employee relationships.
- Improve employee performance.
- Develop and strengthen teams.
What Leaders Gain
Participants learn how to apply coaching skills in the real moments that define leadership, including one-on-ones, feedback conversations, performance discussions, conflict, delegation, goal-setting, and career development.
Leaders build the ability to:
- Listen more deeply and reduce the urge to immediately solve.
- Ask powerful questions that help employees do their best thinking.
- Build trust through more intentional conversations.
- Support accountability without micromanaging.
- Help employees clarify goals, options, and next steps.
- Adapt communication to different people, styles, and situations.
- Use coaching as a tool for performance, development, and team effectiveness.
Program Format
This is an applied learning experience, not a passive training. Depending on the cohort format, the program may include:
- Live, interactive learning sessions.
- Coaching practice between sessions.
- A hands-on coaching practicum.
- Cloverleaf assessments and coaching insights, including 16 Types, DISC, and Enneagram.
- A coaching workbook and journal.
- Reflection prompts and application challenges.
- A certificate of completion.
Private and Public Cohorts
Private cohorts are available for organizations and groups of 10 or more participants. These cohorts are ideal for organizations seeking to develop a coaching culture and building a shared approach to coaching, feedback, communication, and performance.
Private cohorts can be customized to reflect your organization’s values, leadership expectations, culture, and business priorities.
Public cohorts are offered one to two times per year and are ideal for individual leaders, smaller organizations, or teams that want access to the program without launching a full private cohort.

What Participants Are Saying
“I have used the coaching process to listen more, and give others the opportunity to solve issues on their own.”
“It gives the employee more confidence when I ask them questions and get them to come up with their own solutions, instead of me telling them what to do.”
“Before this course I was always saying, ‘Let me hear your problem and here is the solution.’ I’ve learned that isn’t really coaching. I need to step back, listen, and ask better questions.”
“I had a conversation with one of my associates that was a long time coming, and I just listened. It was a much-needed conversation for both of us.”
Powered by Insight and Application
The program integrates Cloverleaf to help participants connect coaching skills to real workplace relationships and conversations.
Participants use Cloverleaf insights to better understand themselves, their teams, communication preferences, conflict styles, motivation, and the ways different people process information. This helps coaching move beyond the classroom and into the flow of work.
